International Children’s Day is celebrated worldwide in June, paying tribute to children and reflecting on their rights and needs. At the Gorongosa National Park’s Pre-Schools, International Children’s Day was celebrated through a wide variety of educational and fun activities that promoted interaction and friendship among the children.
Several schools celebrated International Children’s Day with a special event that encouraged the socialization of children and encourage positive attitudes. The session also aimed to raise children’s awareness of the importance of celebrating festive days and inform them about the significance of each one. The students ate a special breakfast, engaged in a greeting circle, enjoyed snacks, sang songs and danced, participated in a drama presentation and recited poetry about their dreams and desires.
At Betty’s School, nearly 70 boys and girls particpated as well as some of the children’s parents.
According to school officials, all of the events held were positive and engaging. The children showed great interest and delivered an excellent demonstration. The session helped reinforce the importance of child protection and contributed to a better understanding of how we should behave in society and public places.
Gender equity was also addressed, encouraging discussions about respect and equality. The children participated actively, showing that everyone has the right to be heard and respected, regardless of gender.
It is hoped that the children will become agents of change in the future. A special session on empathy taught them to value the feelings of others and put themselves in their shoes and encouraged the children to become agents of change. Together, the preschoolers celebrated love, respect, and solidarity with children all around the world.
