Jemima Martins

Attorney – Conservation

My name is Jemima Martins, I was born in May 1992, I’m Mozambican, born in Maputo. I was born into a Christian family and had an education guided by Biblical principles. So since I was born I have always been surrounded by family at home and at church. This was very positive for my growth, and for the choices and decisions I would make in the future.

At church I joined the children’s evangelism group, the work was done through plays, music, games and games in the street. Because of this, I participated in many camps on the island of Inhaca, one of my favorite places, because there I was always in contact with nature, which is also my passion, so much so that at some point in my life I was divided between two passions , marine biology and the law.

With 10 years experience, I have had the privilege of getting to know various locations in Maputo province and having contact with different communities, which allowed me to learn, understand and respect the differences that exist between us. These were important connections with the people who would later influence my choice of law training.

I have a degree in Law from ISCTEM. My training was the realization of a dream, a dream that was born among the Mozambican people, the dream of being able to help, defend those in need, and contribute to the well-being of all.

I am currently writing a Master’s thesis in MBA at Universidade Católica de Moçambique.

When I visited Gorongosa National Park, I was immediately enchanted by the rich ecosystem that the place has, so much so that I couldn’t wait to return to the Park, so I did.

Today I’m an intern in the inspection department, in legal matters. I feel honored and grateful for the opportunity to be part of this beautiful Gorongosa restoration project, together with a very dedicated team that loves what actually makes more than a project, it is a lifestyle. For me, working for a purpose and being able to contribute, directly, through the Law to the protection and conservation of biological diversity, is the realization of my two passions, I hope with my knowledge and skills, to educate communities in sustainable use, respect and appreciation of this rich ecosystem. I want to be able to contribute significantly to the pursuit of these goals.

My motto for a person to achieve their goals is faith, focus and determination.
