In a joint effort to strengthen local school leadership and promote sustainable development in communities within the Sustainable Development Zone through education, the Gorongosa Club Program, an initiative of Gorongosa National Park, recently organized a training session on school leadership. The event, which took place at the GRP Community Education Center in September 2025, brought together 20 leaders from school councils, selected from the districts of Cheringoma, Gorongosa, and Nhamatanda.
Managed by Tomás Tangay, the current Peace Club manager, Gorongosa Club participants include school council presidents, heads of working committees, school principals, and focal point technicians from the SDEJTs of the aforementioned districts. Over two intensive days, these leaders participated in a variety of learning activities, exchanged experiences, and honed their leadership skills.
This initiative is a testament to the Gorongosa Club Program’s unwavering commitment to empowering school leaders and highlighting the fundamental role of education in the sustainable development of these communities. It is hoped that the knowledge and tools acquired in this training will have a positive and lasting impact on the educational landscae in these districts.
