Education at Gorongosa

Education at Gorongosa

Education is how we hope to shape the future. At Gorongosa National Park, we teach local people (especially children) the principles and values of environmental conservation so they will be willing and able to help us protect the Park in the future.

Our Programs

The Gorongosa National Park is unique in its mission not only to deliver world class conservation, but at the same time invest in the human development of 200,000 people living in the officially designated Park Buffer Zone. We believe that Education is a powerful tool to promote human rights, and we support and provide programs that range from primary level to post graduate, from local schools children to community leaders ensuring that all segments of society are included and reached in the Park-led programs.

Gorongosa Park Club

Youth Clubs

Our health programs are driven by a simple but very powerful idea: the health of Gorongosa National Park is directly linked to the health of the people living near the Park. And vice-versa.

Teachers Clubs

Gorongosa National Park is supporting the Gorongosa District Education and Youth Service in training and supporting in-service teachers, with the aim of improving the quality of literacy and numeracy teaching, with a view to increasing learning outcomes and the resulting transition of children in the district and buffer zone in general.
