Gorongosa National Park strengthens leadership in gender equality and sharpens ranger skills to fight wildlife crime.
Gorongosa National Park is deepening its commitment to fairness, inclusion, and justice — for both people and nature.
In late September, Park staff from every sector took part in an intensive training on human rights, gender-based violence, and transformative gender leadership. The sessions encouraged reflection and dialogue while equipping participants with tools to build a workplace grounded in equality, respect and social justice.
That same spirit of responsibility extends to the field, where tackling wildlife crime takes brains, bravery and understanding the law. More than 50 forest and wildlife rangers took part in a specialized course to combat wildlife crime — an effort that demands not only courage but also legal knowledge and precision. The training covers crime scene investigation, evidence collection, and report preparation for prosecutors and courts, all while upholding the human rights and dignity of every individual.
Together, these initiatives reflect Gorongosa’s core belief: that protecting biodiversity and promoting equality go hand in hand in creating a just, sustainable future for all. Gorongosa National Park is committed to fostering a fair, inclusive, and equitable environment for all employees, regardless of gender.
