Phillips brings global business experience and a deep commitment to Mozambique.
The Carr Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Josh Phillips as its new Development Director. Mr. Phillips brings more than 14 years of experience working across the non-profit and private sectors in both Mozambique and the United States. He has a proven track record in mission-driven entrepreneurship, investment, and business development.
In 2014, Phillips co-founded MicroMoz Investments, an investment firm focused on supporting local businesses in Mozambique. His work helped strengthen small and medium-sized enterprises across a range of sectors—from poultry and agriculture to transportation and homebuilding.
In 2021, he launched JPAK Ventures, a U.S.-based company supplying whole peeled onions to food manufacturers. The company surpassed $5 million in revenue in its first two years, further demonstrating Phillips’ ability to scale impactful ventures.
“Josh brings a rare combination of business acumen, on-the-ground experience, and heart,” said Greg Carr, president of the Carr Foundation. “His background, his deep ties to Mozambique and his commitment to sustainable development make him the perfect fit for the Carr Foundation’s mission.”
Phillips holds a degree in Finance from Utah State University. He now resides in Boise, Idaho with his spouse and four children.
As Development Director, Phillips will lead the Foundation’s fundraising and partnership efforts in support of its long-standing commitment to conservation and human development, including its flagship work in and around Gorongosa National Park in central Mozambique.
