Chimanimani Survey
Our team of Gorongosa researchers and students is back from an amazing expedition to Chimanimani Mountains. We were the first group of biologists to conduct a comprehensive zoological survey of the Mozambican section of the range and, not surprisingly, we found a lot of interesting things. In addition to the incredible biological richness of the Chimanimani, the mountains are also home to some of the most important elements of Mozambique’s remarkable cultural heritage, including San rock paintings of yet unknown age (but likely to be between 2,000-10,000 years old).
