Gorongosa National Park, through the Department of Agriculture and Livelihoods, is implementing a craft program focused on women in the Sustainable Development Zone. The construction of the Women’s Craft Center (WCC) is underway in the Cheringoma district, aimed at empowering women artisans, promoting income generation, and facilitating the production and commercialization of handicraft products, with special emphasis on the use of banana fiber.

Objective of the Request
Individual consultants, civil society organizations, academic institutions, or consulting firms with proven experience are invited to submit technical and financial proposals for consultancy services as defined in the attached Terms of Reference.

Expected Services
The consultant should:

Assess the potential of natural resources transformable into handicraft products;

Propose a management model for the WCC;

Identify key products and target markets;

Conduct training sessions with women beneficiaries;

Develop an action plan and risk mitigation strategy;

Identify and propose the necessary equipment for the center’s operation.

Expected Results
The consultancy should deliver the following:

Diagnostic report of the region;

Market plan and quality standards;

Beneficiary training with evidence of results;

WCC management model;

Risk mitigation and action plan;

Technical report with the specification of suitable equipment for the WCC.

Duration and Work Location
The consultancy will last 60 days, starting upon contract signing. A significant part of the work will be field-based, involving interaction with communities in the districts of Cheringoma, Gorongosa, and Nhamatanda.

Eligibility and Qualifications
Applicants must demonstrate:

A minimum of 3 years of experience in craft, entrepreneurship, or economic inclusion projects;

Proven experience with community groups and participatory development;

Knowledge in using natural fibers (advantageous if familiar with banana fiber);

Fluency in Portuguese (advantageous to know local languages).

Required Documentation
Proponents must submit:

Detailed technical proposal with methodology;

Financial proposal with detailed budget (including travel);

CV of the consultant and technical team;

3 professional references.

Proposals will be evaluated based on:

Methodology (30%)

Relevant experience (25%)

Team composition and qualifications (20%)

Financial proposal (25%)
