Always ready to conserve the environment, the women of Gorongosa National Park undertook a new challenge this month: breast cancer education and prevention. The Gorongosa National Park healthcare team organized an “October is Pink; Health is Year Round” campaign which involved dressing in pink T-shirts, raising awareness about breast cancer prevention and teaching local women how to do a self-exam. Simply breaking taboos and creating safe spaces for healthy discussions will allow local women to share what they learn with their friends and family members in their homes and throughout the Buffer Zone.
