The Gorongosa Restoration Project (Gorongosa National Park) in Mozambique is arguably Africa’s greatest wildlife restoration story. In 2008, the Government of Mozambique and the Carr Foundation formed the Gorongosa Restoration Project, a 20-year Public-Private Partnership for the joint management of the Park and the human development of the communities around the Park. On June 7, 2018, the Government of Mozambique signed an extension of the Gorongosa National Park management agreement for an additional 25 years, until 2043.

The Gorongosa Restoration Project (GRP) has a dual mandate of biodiversity conservation and human development as per the long-term agreement between the Government of Mozambique and the Gorongosa Restoration Project. Together with its partner USAID in Mozambique, the Resilient Gorongosa Project was established to address several of these conservation and development objectives.

Over the next 20 years, the GRP and its private sector partners will ensure the connectivity of natural areas within the Gorongosa-Marromeu conservation complex while improving the lives of people living within its landscape, enhancing their overall human development and resilience, which are intrinsically tied to better conservation outcomes. The project’s objective is directly aligned with the Country’s Development Cooperation Strategy and leverages the strengths of both entities to meet Mozambique’s development needs. The project comprises five Technical Approaches and eight Strategic Approaches that align with Gorongosa’s 30-Year Strategic Plan and 5-Year Business Plan.

Interested bidders can obtain the necessary information and the terms of reference by requesting it via the following email: grpconcursos@gorongosa.net.
