Supporting personal growth, community engagement, environmental stewardship and empowering youth are essential for fostering leaders equipped to address Mozambique’s challenges of tomorrow.
Representatives of CIS American University in Madrid and Cruzada por los Niños foundations visited Gorongosa National Park in May. Together with the Real Madrid Foundation, the three organizations have supported the Park’s community and sustainable development programs involving local youth for many years.
The purpose of the May visit was to learn more about local youth programs, such as the Environmental Clubs (also know as Eco Clubs) where they planted trees and witnessed how ecological pots are made from banana leaves – a sustainable practice that helps preserve the environment.
Both organizations also learned more about the Youth Clubs by playing a game of soccer with club members, teaching them techniques and rules of the game with an emphasis on the principles and values of a team, an act that touched the hearts of all those present at the event.
The visit served as an exchange of experiences, knowledge, a lot of learning and inspiration for all involved. Both organizations signed a commitment to continue to working on initiatives that empower boys and girls through sports, and the entities agreed their goal is for the partnership to bear fruit and contribute to a better world.
