Men are being engaged as partners to build sustainable communities around Gorongosa National Park.
Recently, the Education sector of Gorongosa National Park promoted talks and training in all the districts of the Park’s Sustainable Development Zone (Dondo, Cheringoma, Gorongosa, Nhamatanda, Maringue and Muanza), with the aim of involving local men as partners in building Sustainable Communities. These initiatives, organized by the Girls’ Clubs programme and led by Mofate Taibo (Supervisor of the Youth Clubs program), Changamire Barreto and António Golonga (Supervisors of the Girls’ Clubs program), aim to promote social and family well-being in the communities.
During these seminars, important topics were addressed, such as the prevention of premature unions and the need to eliminate harmful practices that affect the future of our children and young people. We also encourage the sharing of household chores and the value of women’s contribution to society.
We believe that by working together we are building a fairer and more equitable future. We will continue to collaborate to ensure the sustainable development of our region, involving men as partners to create sustainable communities and an environment where everyone can thrive.
