Training on financial inclusion was held in the district of Gorongosa, province of Sofala in late May. This training, delivered in late May by Mr. Mendonça Narreria, financial inclusion program manager and João Baptista, monitoring and evaluation manager, is an ongoing part of the Park’s Sustainable Livelihoods Development Program, which is designed to improve the quality of life for local populations and contribute to environmental conservation.
The training sessions focus on promoting financial inclusion and economic empowerment of local communities, with the goal of reducing poverty and stimulating sustainable development in the region.
Financed by the Netherlands, the project operates in districts located near the Gorongosa National Park, including Cheringoma, Gorongosa, Dondo, Nhamatanda, Maringué, and Muanza.
The Peace (Peace Through Economic Action and Community Empowerment) project in Mozambique, supported by Cooperation Canada, also emphasizes financial inclusion and economic empowerment. Both projects benefit local communities by strengthening financial institutions and creating strategic partnerships with local governments.
Youth club facilitators, financial inclusion technicians, and the Peace Club supervisor—committed professionals dedicated to regional development—were actively involved in the training. This initiative also provided them with the opportunity to enhance their skills and further contribute to the sustainable development of the region.
