How wonderful and contagious it is to be part of a Gorongosa National Park Youth Club.
“Innovate, invent, create and undertake” are words that define one of the goals of the youth club program. In this context, several members of the youth club of Escola Secundária de Savane, located in the District of Dondo participated and were crowned winners of the IX National Festival of Culture, in its final stage of competition.
Youth club representatives had an overall rating of 18 points. Three winners took first place and include Filipa (typical gastronomy), Sofia (traditional drinks) and Wilson (arts that express the need to conserve the environment). These students will now go on to represent Sofala Province in Maputo and will compete for clothing, blankets and prizes.
The event took place in Casa dos Bicos in the city of Beira, and was honored by representatives in all the categories from all the districts of Sofala include Governor Lourenço Ferreira Bulha and members of the provincial and district government.
Several works of art from the competition will be on display in the last phase for representation and will feature a symbol of the Youth Club and the Gorongosa Park.
Qualifying for the national competition in Maputo was received with great euphoria, vivacity and happiness by the members, the school, the District and by fellow promoters of Youth Clubs throughout the communities surrounding Gorongosa National Park. As entrepreneurs, we all have a stake in the sustainability and the future of the members who pass through the Gorongosa Youth Clubs.
